Artist Statement
Alison Bixby’s color photographs present straightforward scenes of cityscapes, landscapes and popular international travel destinations.
Most of these photographs are unedited in terms of cropping. Only very slight adjustments have been made in order to maintain the color, shadows and saturation found in the original scenes and images.
The recent series, “Cityscapes, Landscapes and Travel Destinations,” is digital only. Past series titled, “Beaches and Water” and “Signs of Life in America” include a majority of traditional photographs printed using medium format negatives with more recent works in the form of digital photographs created on cameras and iPhones.
Alison studied photography and exhibited her traditional photographic C-prints in New York, NY and Haverford, PA. Her artistic career spans over three decades, including group and solo exhibitions plus selected photos in publications. The artist lives in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, IL.
